Scope and Content Wellpark Brewery, No 161 Duke Street, Glasgow This brewery is said to have been founded in about 1556 by the Tennent family, but has been rebuilt on many occasions. In the 1960s it still retained many of the buildings constructed in the late 19th century. This shows the brewery from the west, looking down Ladywell Street. In the middle are two malt kilns and the end of a large malt barn, probably dating from the late 19th century, and on the left one of two brick water-towers. Wellpark Brewery is now the only large brewery in the west of Scotland, and its equipment is constantly being modernised. All traces of the Victorian buildings have now been swept away by demolition.
