Scope and Content Botanic Gardens Garage, No 24 Vinicombe Street, Glasgow This business was founded c.1906 by A K Kennedy. The present building was built in 1911 to designs by D V Wyllie, architect. Being situated in a residential area, it was given an ornamental façade, in white and green faience (glazed terracotta tiles). This shows the Vinicombe Street frontage of the building, which has an internal ramp allowing cars to be driven up to the first floor. The building has a steel and concrete frame. This garage was originally built to house privately-owned motor cars, and to maintain them. It is still presently in use as a car maintenance workshop, and is also a base for hiring cars, as part of the Arnold Clark empire. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
