Scope and Content Brass foundry, No 131 Minerva Street, Glasgow This foundry was built in 1869 for J & W Young, ships' plumbers and brass founders. It was constructed of red and white brick, with round-headed windows, in the manner of the time. This shows the building from the south-west, The front has been rendered and the roof-ridge ventilator removed, presumably when the asbestos sheet covering was applied to the roof. Note the small-paned, cast iron-framed windows. This building was used as a store in 1967, but survived the mass demolition of industrial buildings in this part of Glasgow in the late 1960s, and has since been converted into flats. It has been completely re-rendered, and the windows have been replaced. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
