Scope and Content Former brewery, Millhill, Musselburgh, Midlothian (East Lothian council area) This little building has an obscure history, but it appears to have been a small brewery, an impression reinforced by the presence of a public house next door. It may possibly also have been a tannery. This view shows the building from the north east. The louvred top storey would have housed the cast iron wort-cooling tanks, in the days before refrigeration was developed. The pantiled roof also gave a measure of ventilation. By 1966 this building had long been disused as a brewery, and was in use as a store. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
