Scope and Content Bond 9 Cooperage, Ronaldson's Wharf, Leith, Edinburgh (Edinburgh City council area) This was a very fine example of a mid 19th century warehouse, with its own private quay on the Water of Leith. It may well have been built as a grain store, but was at some stage converted to a bonded warehouse. In 1966 it was a cooperage. This view shows the building from the north east, with barrels on the private quay. Note the central hoist, typical of such buildings. By 1966 this part of the harbour was no longer in use. This building, with its waterfront location, was an early candidate for residential conversion when the regeneration of Leith began in the mid 1980s, and it has now been divided into flats without seriously affecting its external appearance.
