Scope and Content Craigentinny House, Loaning Road, Restalrig, Edinburgh, from the south Craigentinny House, a 16th-century baronial mansion, was built for the northisbets of Dean and Craigentinny. It was enlarged in the 17th century, and skilfully altered by the architect, David Rhind, in 1849. The house is now a Community Centre. This picturesque house is rubble-built with crowstepped semi-dormer windows, and a square stair-tower with an entrance in its base, altered by David Rhind so that the stair-turret in the angle is no longer functional. In the 18th century, the house was purchased by William Miller, a seed merchant, whose son, William Henry Miller, an eccentric character, had, in the terms of his will, the Roman temple monument known as the 'Craigentinny Marbles', erected in his memory.
