Scope and Content 'Holy Corner', looking west from Chamberlain Road, Morningside, Edinburgh 'Holy Corner', the junction of Morningside Road, Colinton Road, Chamberlain Road and Bruntsfield Place, takes its name from the churches which are built at its four corners. It forms the start of Morningside Road, and the northern boundary of Morningside. This view shows two of the four churches: Morningside United Church, with its pantiled roof and small campanile, on the corner of Chamberlain Road; and beyond, the Gothic belfry and spire of Christ Church Episcopal, on the north corner of Colinton Road. Morningside United Church was formed when the congregations of North Morningside Church and Morningside Congregational Church united within one building. This was the first case in Edinburgh of a Congregational church uniting with the Church of Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
