Scope and Content Broch at Dun Mor, Vaul, Tiree, Argyll and Bute Dun Mor is a well-preserved broch built on a rocky knoll close to the shore. It is set inside an irregular outwork. The site was excavated between 1962 and 1964 and the finds are now in the Huntarian Museum, University of Glasgow. This is a view of the entrance passage of the broch. It was in the ESE side of the structure and had one roughly circular guard cell leading off it on the N side. Also see here is the bar-hole used for keeping the wooden door firmly closed. The excavations in the 1960s discovered more about the phases of construction. Originally from the mid first century BC, it appears that around AD 200 the walls were lowered as the broch became less of a defensive site.
