Scope and Content The Music Window in the former Morningside Parish Church, Morningside Road, Morningside, Edinburgh Morningside Parish Church, the first church to be built in the rapidly expanding village of Morningside, was designed by John Henderson, and financed by public subscription. It opened in 1838, but closed in 1990 when it amalgamated with Braid Church. This stained-glass window, one of a set relating Bible stories in vivid magic-lantern panels, is on the north side of the nave. It shows King David with his harp, and is by the Edinburgh firm of glass-stainers, Ballantine & Gardiner in 1902. The new 'parish of Morningside', originally part of the parish of St Cuthbert's at the west end of Princes Street, covered an extensive area from the canal in the north to Braid Hill, and from the parish of Colinton to Blackford Hill and Liberton.
