Scope and Content View of Lunga House from the south-west, Argyll and Bute Lunga House, formerly known as Daill, originally belonged to the estate of the Campbells of Craignish and was assessed for 13 windows in 1748. In the late 18th century it was acquired by John MacDougall of Lunga, who owned Lunga Island. The house was called Lunga from the middle of the 19th century. It was extensively altered in the 19th century, when concrete crowsteps were added to the gables. Ornamental turrets were built at various corners and window surrounds were replaced. The original house, which dates to the middle of the 17th century, seems to have consisted of a semi-fortified L-plan house. Both wings of the L-plan are of two storeys with attics.
