Scope and Content Kilncraigs Mill, Alloa, Clackmannanshire This large group of mills was developed from the mid 19th century by Patons and Baldwins, eventually specialising in spinning and doubling knitting wools. The company was Alloa's largest employer for many years. This view shows the mills from the south, looking over the old churchyard. The Edwardian baroque block on the left housed offices, and the 1930s 'moderne' building on the right was part of the mills proper. The complex began running down in the late 1960s, with older buildings being demolished. In 2000 it was announced that the mills were closing completely. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
