Scope and Content Dalmarnock Bridge, Glasgow This bridge was built to replace a narrow masonry bridge over the Clyde where it formed the boundary between the city of Glasgow and the burgh of Rutherglen. It is a five -span steel girder bridge. with cast-iron Gothic decoration. This view shows the bridge from the north east, with its slender masonry-faced concrete piers, Gothic detailing, and cast iron lamp standards. Note the slight upward curvature of the deck. This bridge was designed by Crouch and Hogg of Glasgow. Its construction was funded by Glasgow, Rutherglen and 'the counties of the Lower and Upper Wards of Lanarkshire', a fact commemorated by a plaque on the structure.
