Scope and Content Victoria Road Calender, Victoria Road, Dundee, Angus This works was built for A and S Henry. The ground floor housed hydraulic press-packers, and a warehouse. There were calenders on the first floor, and more storage above. There were extensive buildings behind the front block. This view shows the building from the south east. The style is perhaps best described as Victorian eclectic, though the turrets are Scots Baronial in character. The elaboration of the frontage was due to the prominent position of the building. At one time it was hoped that this building would become Dundee's industrial museum. After this did not materialise it lay empty for many years, and was eventually badly damaged by fire. It has since been repaired and converted into housing. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
