Scope and Content Lower Dens Mill, Dundee, Angus This flax-spinning mill was built by Baxter Brothers, and became part of one of the largest linen complexes in the world, supplying yarn to be woven and finished in the Upper Dens Factory, immediately to the north. This view shows the attic floor of the Lower Dens Mill, with its Gothic framing, typical of Dundee practice of the period. The packages contained raw flax. The Dens complex, by that time in the ownership of Low and Bonar, was closed in 1978. Subsequently the 1850 Upper Dens Factory was converted into housing, and the Lower Dens Mill housed a range of small businesses. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
