Scope and Content Dairsie Bridge, Fife This is a good example of a small late medieval masonry bridge, situated close to the parish church and to a large tower-house. The bridge has four ribbed arches of unequal size. The profile of the roadway appears to have been altered in the 18th century. This view shows the bridge from the north east.. The ribbing of the centre span is visible. The coat of arms is that of James Beaton, Archbishop of St Andrews. Note that the pier on the left has no cutwater, an unusual feature. This bridge is one of a handful of ribbed-arch structures in Scotland. And the only one in Fife. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
