Scope and Content Goods station, Perth This was one of the largest and finest goods stations in Scotland, outside the big cities. It was built by the Caledonian Railway, and was three bays wide, with a two storey office block across the front. It was built of red and white brick. This view shows the station from the south west, with the main range to the left, and the detached weighbridge to the right. The upper floor of the main range was probably used as a warehouse. A goods station like this was used not only for receiving and dispatching goods for Perth, but for handling goods routed through Perth in less than full wagon or van loads. As Perth was an important rail centre this traffic was considerable. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
