Scope and Content Perth General Station Perth was a nodal point on the Scottish railway system, served by 1850 by three railway companies, and by 1863 by four. This station was therefore an important interchange point. It was the furthest south point reached by The Highland Railway. This view shows the Dundee platforms, on the east side of the station, with an Aberdeen-Glasgow train. These platforms were originally of secondary importance, but have since the mid 1960s served the main Aberdeen trains. The main buildings at Perth are on the island platform to the west, and now accommodate railway offices. There is also a waiting room originally provided for Queen Victoria.
