Scope and Content Dunblane Station, Perthshire This station was originally built by the Scottish Central Railway to a design based on one of its standard patterns. It was later extended in wood, with steel-framed awnings and a notable covered lattice-girder footbridge. This view shows the station looking north from the main north-bound platform. To the left is a platform used by Oban trains but now used by local services. The covered footbridge is of a design unique in Scotland. Originally a simple through station, this became a junction for Callander in 1858 and for Oban in 1880, and the expansion of the station in the later 19th century was due to that status. The scale of the station was reduced c1970. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
