Scope and Content Gleneagles Station, Perthshire This was a three-platform station rebuilt in 1919 from an earlier station known as Crieff Junction, to serve the Caledonian Railway's new luxury Gleneagles Hotel and golf-course development. It was also a war memorial to the company's dead. This view shows the north-bound platform on the left, and the southbound on the right. The scale and quality of the buildings is evident; the light and airy appearance was typical of the Caledonian Railway. As well as serving the hotel this was also the junction for Crieff, a popular inland resort and dormitory town for well-to-do people. The branch closed in 1964, and visitors to the hotel now arrive by road. The station buildings are now decaying. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
