Scope and Content Aberfeldy Mill, Perthshire This is a water-powered corn mill, probably built by the Breadalbane Estate, and extended and altered, probably in the mid 20th century. It was driven by an overshot waterwheel about 0.9 by 6.1m, but was not using grindstones by 1976. This view shows the overshot waterwheel at the rear of the milling range. It is unusual in being on the side of the mill rather than on the gable. This mill was still in use in 1976 producing animal feeding-stuffs, in the ownership of McKerchar and McNaughton, a subsidiary of BOCM. It has since been reconverted to stone grinding and opened to visitors. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
