Scope and Content Strathcarron Station, Highland This station was opened in 1870 by the Dingwall and Skye Railway. It is one of the major intermediate stations on the line, with a passing loop and post-bus connections to the north west. This view shows the station from the platform side looking west. The main station building, on the right, incorporates the agent's house. The footbridge was added in 1900, and was made by the Rose Street Foundry, Inverness. This station retained in 1976 its original masonry-faced low platforms, and boxes were provided to assist passengers to board and to alight from trains. One of these can be seen on the edge of the platform in this view. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
