Scope and Content Former water--powered corn mill, Achafolla, Luing, Argyll, Argyll This was a small mill on an L-plan, with the kiln in the now-ruinous wing. The main range still contains two pairs of stones with their associated gearing, which were driven by an overshot wheel 0.84 by 4.87, the skeleton of which also survives. This view shows the exterior of the mill, with the wheel on the gable. The broken-down wall on the right was part of the kiln. The building now has a corrugated-iron roof. The mill was a cattle shed in 1976, and most of the woodwork had been removed from the interior, leaving the heavy timber frame supporting the millstones. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
