Scope and Content Loch Indaal Lighthouse, Port Charlotte, Islay, Argyll This small lighthouse was designed by D and T Stevenson for the Northern Lighthouse Board. It has a short tapering circular-section tower, and a two-storey T-plan block of keepers' houses. This view shows the lighthouse from the north west, with the keepers' houses on the left and the light to the right. The whole complex is enclosed by a lime-washed rubble wall. The lighthouse was probably built to provide guidance to vessels serving the Lochindaal and Bowmore distilleries, both of which are on the loch. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
