Scope and Content Ark Land, Inveraray, Argyll This block of five three-storey tenements was designed by Robert Mylne, as part of the development of the new town of Inveraray, to house tradesmen. It was refurbished in the 1950s By Ian G Lindsay and Partners. This view shows the block from the south west. The openings are significantly larger than those in the tenements in Relief Land, across the street, which was built to accommodate poorer tenants. These houses may well have been prototypes for the housing at New Lanark, and are likely, in turn, to have been derived from the barrack blocks at Fort George. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
