Scope and Content Montgomeryfield Brickworks, Dreghorn, Ayrshire This works was established by a local firm of coal-owners, A. Kenneth and Sons, probably to consume blaes from the bings of their collieries. When the works closed c1975 it had four continuous kilns, served by three tall square-section chimneys. This view shows one of the smaller continuous kilns, probably of the Belgian type. The works had been closed by the time this photograph was taken, and was demolished soon after. The site has now been built over. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
