Scope and Content Nairns' Linoleum Works, Den Road/ Nairn Street, Kirkcaldy, Fife This works was built for the manufacture of linoleum by Michael Nairn, who had been making floorcloth since 1847. The buildings were designed with sandstone ashlar frontages to mark the prestige of the company. This view shows a detail of an early four storey block. The tall round-headed windows lit the open area for drying the linoleum after its initial manufacture. Much of this complex has since been demolished, leaving only the listed buildings, which include this four-storey block, empty and awaiting reuse. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
