Scope and Content Electricity Generating Station, Kirkcaldy, Fife This generating station was built to supply the Kirkcaldy Corporation Tramways, and was designed as a statement of civic pride, with an elaborate masonry façade in Edwardian Baroque style. It was later extended in more functional style. This view shows the complex from the south east, showing the baroque treatment, especially of the office entrance. Though long disused as a generating station, the complex was still used as offices and as a substation in 1975. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
