Scope and Content Former Gilmour & Dean printing works, 46-50 North Hanover Street, Glasgow A printing works was founded on this site c1871 by Gilmour & Dean. They came to specialise in high-class colour printing, and rebuilt part of the works in 1913 to designs by Clifford & Lunan. This view shows the frontage of the building to Frederick Lane. The red and white brick section on the right could well have been of c1871. The left-hand section is Clifford & Lunan's block, with a tower over the corner entrance. After Gilmour & Dean vacated the building it was used for some years as the offices of Bairds and Scottish Steels Ltd, operators of Gartsherrie Ironworks and Waverley, Northburn and Victoria steelworks until the late 1960s. It has been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
