Scope and Content Redcastle Station, Ross and Cromarty This station was on The Highland Railway's branch from Muir of Ord to Fortrose, opened in 1894. It served a small village some distance away, and a farming community. This view shows the station building from the south west. Its timber construction is typical of Highland Railway practice in the 1890s. This line closed to passengers in 1951 and to freight in 1960. When this photograph was taken the building was used as a store. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
