Scope and Content Housing, Charlestown village, Fife This view shows the open arrangement of the village which consists of terraces of single-storey cottages laid out on an E plan (E for Elgin). This view shows the large village green flanked by the long outer terraces, and with the shorter central terraces in the middle distance. This was probably the first planned industrial village in Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
