Description Inked plan of Culbokie Henge. Also copy negative D15305

Date 1980

Collection Records of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Edinbu

Catalogue Number RCD 114/2

Category Prints and Drawings

Copies SC 343473

Scope and Content Henge monument at Culboki, Ross and Cromarty, Highland This henge is defined by a broad penannular ditch which is broken by an entrance causeway on the SE. The ditch is surrounded by a continuous bank. The interior of the henge contains the remains of a possible stony mound. This is a plan of the henge. It was surveyed in 1980. The entrance causeway across the ditch is quite broad, but it is not matched by a corresponding break in the bank. Although the bank does not stop here, it does appear to be much slighter. This henge survives as an earthwork in the NE corner of a cultivated field. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
