Scope and Content Beam-engine house, Garlogie Mills, Aberdeenshire Garlogie Mills were built for woollen manufacture and were driven by a single-cylinder steam engine of the beam type. When the bulk of the mills was demolished in 1934 the engine was kept in its house. This view shows the tall, narrow engine house on the right, with the site of the boiler-house in the foreground. The village hall, on the left was adapted from part of the mill buildings. The engine has now been conserved and made accessible to the public, by the local museums service.
