Date 15/8/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 444676

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Glenury Royal Distillery, Stonehaven (also known as Royal Glenury), Kincardineshire This Scotch malt whisky distillery was founded in 1825 by Barclay, McDonald & Co. It was rebuilt and extended in 1965-6 by Scottish Malt Distillers, and closed in 1983. This view shows the distillery from the south west. Note that the malt barns, on the left, have been increased in height, and given a curved corrugated-iron roof. This was probably done by Train & McIntyre Ltd, owners from 1938-53. The distillery has been demolished since 1983. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
