Scope and Content Chambered cairn and cairn, Fiscary, Farr, Sutherland A pair of cairns occupies the highest point of a ridge of rough grazing, commanding spectacular views in all directions. View looking N out to sea, with the cairns on the top of the ridge. Chambered cairns belong to the Neolithic, the period of the first farming peoples of Scotland, and were the burial places for local communities. The earliest tombs were built around 4000 BC, but the building tradition lasted until at least 2500 BC. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
