Scope and Content Salmon-fishing station, Phillips's Harbour, Harrow, Caithness Phillips's Harbour seems to have been built as a fishing station for herring and salmon. This group of buildings was built to prepare salmon for the voyage to the London market, the main source of demand for Scottish salmon. This view shows on the left what was probably a store, perhaps a boat store, with a salmon-boiling shed beyond. In this the fish were partly boiled to help to keep them in good condition on the voyage to London. This was part of a suite of buildings provided for the salmon fishery here, linked to a well-constructed pier and quay. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
