Scope and Content Aultnaslanach Viaduct, Moy, Inverness-shire This viaduct was opened in 1897 by The Highland Railway as part of their direct line from Aviemore to Inverness. It was designed by Murdoch Paterson. This viaduct shows the viaduct from the south east. It is a five-span timber trestle structure, the only one on a main line in Scotland. This viaduct, was built in timber because it proved difficult to secure adequate foundations for masonry piers. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
