Scope and Content Locomotive shed, Blair Atholl This locomotive shed was built to house locomotives to assist trains to climb up the railway to Drumochter Summit, the highest point on a main-line railway in Scotland, and to haul local trains to Perth. This view shows the shed from the south east. By 1974 it had been out of use for railway purposes for several years. The building still survives, one of a dwindling number of steam-locomotive sheds in Scotland. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
