Scope and Content Bridge over the Whiteadder Water, Foulden, Berwickshire This bridge was originally built in 1837 by James Jardine, with a light wrought-iron deck. The masonry piers have been retained from this bridge, but the present lattice-truss spans date from 1878, and were designed by D & T Stevenson. This view shows the very slender piers and the light lattice-truss spans. The bridge of 1837 was a pioneering one, a daring use of wrought iron. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
