Scope and Content The Parade Ground and St Margaret's Loch, Holyrood Park, City of Edinburgh Holyrood Park owes much of its present appearance to Prince Albert who drew up plans for landscaping the area in the 19th century. The area of the Parade Ground was drained and landscaped. Hunter's Bog was also drained and St Margaret's Loch formed. Duddingston Loch is the only natural loch in the Park. The Queen's Drive was laid out around the Park perimeter. In 1541 James V enclosed the Park with a stone wall. Though it has been much repaired, this wall may still be followed around the Park today.
