Scope and Content St Anthony's Well, Holyrood Park, City of Edinburgh St Anthony's Well is the most prominent of seven holy springs in Holyrood Park. It lies beneath a rounded boulder on the steep path up to St Anthony's Chapel. In the past there was a lead cup from which to drink and the water flowed into a small basin. Today the basin lies empty and the cup has gone. The Park was once well-known for its sweet waters and there is a long tradition of brewing using Park water. The boulder below which the well lies was brought to this spot by the glaciers. The water rises up a geological fault but it is now piped away and the spring no longer looks as fresh as it once did.
