Scope and Content Grain store, Stirling, Stirlingshire This is an unusually elaborate and decorative building of its type. It was built for Robert Walls & Sons, oatmeal and provender millers and agricultural merchants, and is made of red and white brick, as was fashionable in late 19th century Scotland. This view shows the building, which was symmetrical, with its awnings to protect carts loading or unloading, and covered hoists - lucarnes - giving access to the upper floors. This is a uniquely sophisticated building of its type in Scotland, and may have been influenced by English practice. Robert Walls & Sons were the proprietors of the nearby Lower Kerse Mills.
