Scope and Content Hayford Mills, Cambusbarron, Stirlingshire Hayford Mills were founded foe woollen manufacture by a family named Smith, at a time when the northern Forth valley was second only to the Borders as a focus for woollen manufacture. This general view, from the south east, shows the main spinning block on the left, and a smaller multi-storey block on the right, with single-storey weaving sheds in between. After the mills closed they became Government stores, a role they were fulfilling at the time this photograph was taken. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
