Scope and Content Ednam Bridge, Ednam, Roxburghshire Ednam Bridge is unusually ornamental for a small rural bridge. It bears an inscription 'To Henry Francis Lyte, the hymn writer. This view shows the three semi-elliptical arches, the corbelled string course and the curved wing walls which mark this as a bridge of unusual distinction. Henry Francis Lyte died in 1847. He was a prolific hymn writer, and this bridge may have been built as a memorial to him. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
