Scope and Content Netherdale Mill, Dale Street, Galashiels, Selkirkshire Netherdale Mill was founded in 1857 by J & W Cochrane to make tweed. It had two four-storey spinning blocks and a block of single-storey weaving sheds. This view shows part of the weaving shed range, with offices of 1893 in front. There were 13 bays of weaving sheds in this block. This was the largest of the Galashiels mills. By the time this photograph was taken it was partly occupied by the Scottish College of Textiles.
