Scope and Content Main range, Philiphaugh Mill, Selkirk, Selkirkshire Philiphaugh mill was built for tweed manufacture in 1876, and subsequently extended. The buildings seen here housed spinning mules. This view shows on the left the belfry to indicate starting and stopping times, and the one-storey and attic spinning block. The steel framework was used to take materials into the attic floor. This type of building was unusual in the Borders woollen trade. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
