Scope and Content Ballantyne's Mill, also known as Tweedvale Mill, Galashiels Road, Walkerburn, Peebles-shire Ballantyne's Mill (also known as Tweedvale Mill) was founded in 1855 as a tweed mill, and was subsequently greatly enlarged. This view shows buildings leading from the entrance courtyard to the original spinning mill of 1855. Walkerburn was a company town, owned by the Ballantyne family, who developed it from 1855.
