Scope and Content Gravestone commemorating John Robert, Bo'ness Churchyard, Falkirk This gravestone commemorates Janet Munro who died in 1797, and her husband John Robert. A pair of skulls on the top slopes and a faint 'MEMENTO MORI' ('Remember You Must Die') inscription inside the pediment signify death and mortality. The incised tools may be a slater's. Pictured in flight, the trumpeting angel heralds the Resurrection. The graveyards of Scotland are an important part of the cultural heritage of the country and can provide fascinating information for people interested in family or local history, as well as vernacular art.
