Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Barpa Langass, North Uist, Western Isles This chambered cairn lies close to the road on the W slope of Ben Langass. It is the only cairn on the Western Isles which still has an intact chamber. It was excavated early in the 20th century. A stone circle is nearby. This is a view of the passage and chamber inside the cairn. The passage is partly blocked by fallen stone and still has some of its original lintels. Both the passage and the oval chamber are formed by slabs and drystone walling. Excavations uncovered a number of sherds of Beaker pottery, flint flakes, including an arrowhead, and some burnt bones.
