Scope and Content Tweed Bridge, Peebles, Peebles-shire This late 15th century bridge was widened in 1834 and again in 1900. In this view the successive widenings can be traced under the nearest arch. The original bridge here helped to confirm the importance of Peebles as a market town and religious centre, the focal point of the county. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
