Description Old Manor Bridge General view

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Scope and Content Old Manor (Water) Bridge, Peebles-shire A single-span masonry bridge over the Manor Water, a tributary of the river Tweed. It was built for the Earl of March. This view shows the pronounced hump and the almost semicircular arch characteristic of early bridges. The small stones used in its construction also suggest a fairly date. This is one of the oldest minor bridges in the Borders. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
